About the Role If you have a knowledge and passion for plants, love to learn and continuously improve, and enjoy the sales experience and working with others, then we would love for you to join our team. We are seeking an Outside Sales Craftsman for our Chicago IL. territory. As an Outside Sales Craftsman, you will be responsible for increasing sales by building upon relationships with our current customers and helping prospective customers understand the Monrovia brand more fully as they work to meet their sales goal. What You'll Do

• You'll maintain relationships with garden center buyers by providing support, information, and guidance; researching and recommending new opportunities; recommending profit and service improvements on a weekly basis.
• You'll collect and analyze data to forecast store orders, trends, opportunities, and manage stores' inventory.
• You'll travel within your region to call upon current and prospective customers, along with touring nursery locations.
• You'll collaborate with your Inside Sales Craftsman to execute your team strategy and meet your sales goal.
• You'll work directly with the garden centers to resolve any shipping or credit issues.
• You'll continue to learn about industry trends and the plants we grow.
• You'll help promote brand awareness by presenting marketing and sales strategies to customers and colleagues periodically.
• You'll support our company values in the way you communicate with customers and your fellow craftsmen. Who You Are
  • Ideally, you will have an associate or bachelor's degree in horticulture or landscape design.
  • You will have at least 2 years of experience in sales in the horticultural marketplace and or sales management in the garden center industry.
  • You are a proficient oral and written communicator, including excellent listening skills.
  • You are proficient in the Microsoft 365 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, BI) and are able to learn and utilize technology including working within our Oracle Cloud Sales.
  • Incumbents must be able to learn the horticultural industry well enough to communicate and negotiate with external stakeholders as necessary.
  • You have good math skills.
  • You are good at planning, executing, and meeting goals.
  • You are open to feedback, communicate well and take action as required.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • You have a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record so you can drive around the nursery as needed and maintain full automobile insurance with collision and comprehensive coverage with liability limits not less than those required by applicable state law.
  • You're able to maneuver around a garden center, work on a computer and with a telephone, and can lift up to 35 pounds on occasion, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • You would consider relocating to another Monrovia nursery or to an outside territory. Benefits at Monrovia
    • You'll earn a base salary equal to $75,000 per year plus will be eligible to earn a commission as a percentage of net sales for sales of authorized plants and products in your territory.
    • You'll earn paid sick time.
