Position Purpose: The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the administrative tasks related to various certification processes, including endorsements, renewals, and examinations. This role is governed by state and federal regulations, as well as agency and institutional policies. The Credentialing Coordinator plays a key role in organizing, maintaining, and verifying the credentials of healthcare practitioners in a healthcare facility. They also prepare documents for review and approval by the credentialing committee. Principal Responsibilities: Serve as the primary point of contact for providers, the credentialing committee, clinic administrators, and IPA/health plans, ensuring up-to-date credentialing files for physicians, mid-level providers, technicians, and nurses. Coordinate the provider appointment process across all health centers, which includes collecting, verifying, and presenting provider references and credentials for review and approval. Process certification and examination applications, respond to inquiries from applicants, schools, and employers, and handle phone inquiries related to certification and exams. Maintain a computerized database of records related to membership, continuing education, certification, disciplinary actions, and certification revocations. Respond to written inquiries via mail or email, providing information on certification status. Attend committee meetings, take detailed minutes, and manage records of those meetings. Verify certification information for other state agencies as needed. Create, update, and maintain educational brochures and other certification materials. Assist with the onboarding of new employees, including collecting copies of licenses, insurance, and renewal dates, if applicable. Maintain personnel, independent contractor, and medical files, including data entry and filing. Provide verbal and written support for supervisors as needed. Adhere to all organizational safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Participate in required safety and compliance trainings and apply learned practices in daily work activities. Identify, report, and help mitigate unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards in the workplace. Use equipment, tools, and supplies safely and responsibly in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards. Maintain awareness of infection control, occupational health, and emergency preparedness procedures appropriate to the role. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements: High school diploma or GED Certificate Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field is preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a credentialing, administrative, or healthcare-related role, preferably within a healthcare or managed care setting. Familiarity with healthcare provider credentialing, privileging, and certification standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience managing data in spreadsheets. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with healthcare providers. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred. Experience handling and safeguarding confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and other privacy laws.
