Position Summary:A deep understanding of our consumers is essential
to our success as a business. Market research is where we provide
insight across everything from the launch of a new product to
changing packaging, developing and modifying recipes, and finding
the ideal communication messaging and channels for our
consumers.For the successful candidate, this means contributing to
the running of continuous and ad hoc projects, qualitative and
quantitative data analysis, and the delivery of actionable insights
as part of a dynamic, results-driven team. You will challenge the
status quo, manage multiple relationships and leverage a deep
understanding of the consumer to changewell, everything.Under the
general direction of the Chief Marketing Officer, this role
oversees and directs market research and related initiatives, using
data-driven insights to represent the voice of the consumer while
working in partnership with internal stakeholders, external
agencies/vendors, and direct reports to achieve business goals.
This is a hands-on position; in a fast-paced and highly creative
environment. The candidate for this position must be a
self-motivated, highly analytical, strategic, creative thinker and
possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Minimum
Qualifications+ Bachelors Degree in Economics, Marketing,
Statistics, or a Behavior Science field preferred; MBA or masters
degree in social science strongly desired+ 10-15 years of consumer
market research experience (demonstrated experience with consumer
packaged goods manufacturer a plus)+ Demonstrated knowledge and
experience with product development, branding & communications, and
category/sales + Working knowledge of syndicated services (i.e.
Nielsen/IRI scanner and panel, Numerator) required along with
working knowledge of MS Office Suite products and information
databases and third-party survey platforms + Highly analytical
mindset with the ability to look at vast amounts of data and
synthesize that information into intelligence that can be acted
upon by the business is required - Strong storytelling skills+
Sound understanding of various research methods (quantitative and
qualitative) and appropriate application of these methods+ Ability
to translate research results/findings into meaningful and
actionable insights+ Ability to develop strong relationships with
business partners and team members and proactively update on
progress+ Highly organized, self-starter with the ability to manage
projects with limited oversight and proactively identify new
consumer insights+ Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously,
adapt well to change and able to prioritize multiple work
assignments+ Excellent communication skills (both verbal and
written); with the ability to relay insights throughout the team
and keep other key stakeholders informed on projectsDesired
Qualifications+ Experience and knowledge in Retail and Foodservice
channels.+ Plan and lead consumer research activities to identify
and evaluate new product opportunities, providing information and
insight to assist in making sound business decisions that support
new product initiatives critical to company growth+ Collect and
synthesize industry and consumer trends and provide implications
for the business+ Build on new product research best practices by
searching out new methodologies and introducing them to the
company, knowledge of Design Thinking and leading innovation work a
plus+ Display excellent interpersonal skills and close
collaboration with cross-functional teams+ Demonstrate strong
problem solving, project management and communication skills+
Research/Insight projects span the scope of market sizing,
market/segment understanding, customer segmentation, product
innovation, product validation, attitude and usage, brand value
propositions and secondary/syndicated research trend analysis, all
with the intention of supporting our long-term strategic growth and
annual operating plans+ Participates in Business Planning sessions
and team presentations to key customers+ Partners with leadership
to develop an operating plan and budget while maintaining
responsibility to operating within the set budget+ Assesses each
research initiative with a critical eye to ensure that it provides
incremental learning, actionable insights and a positive and
meaningful ROI+ Knows both when to recommend research and when to
recommend against research+ Works closely with vendors to analyze
data and extract meaningful and actionable insights+ Provides
meaningful and actionable recommendations to the business team
based on consumer insights+ Provides a day to day voice of the
consumer in the business dialogue+ Supports the business team in
identifying risks and opportunities from the consumer perspective
(with and without new research)+ Plays active role on
cross-functional teams+ A proven track record of results with a
bias for action+ A passion for learning and a craving to work in a
