Job Description:
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Direct and coordinate all phases of import (pit run and inert fill)
and reclamation within all active and inactive mine operations
including, but not limited to, Pit 2, Pit 3, main yard and Olive
Pit. Ensure adherence to all environmental and safety regulations,
energy conservation mandates, social responsibilities as well as
all other related subjects. Oversee all personnel within scope of
responsibility and manage expenses to meet and exceed financial
targets.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Promote, monitor and manage United Rock Products Safety Program
following the "Living Goal Zero" Philosophy
- Ensure environmental compliance in all sites
- Plan, organize, and direct daily, weekly and monthly crew
schedules
- Audit and manage import and reclamation activities to ensure
quality compliance, Fill Operating Plan adherence and overall
equipment / personnel productivity
- Monitor and manage manpower to ensure regulatory and collective
bargaining agreement compliance
- Monitor and manage costs (including equipment, contractors and
sub-haulers) to ensure financial targets are met
- Hire manpower in compliance with Company policy and collective
agreement
- Prepare daily/monthly/quarterly reports as required
- Solve problems associated with manpower and import materials
- Investigate, develop and implement worldwide Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives
- Forecast and react quickly to changes in market conditions and
customer requests
- Handle local, state, and federal agency inspections and requests
on an as needed basis
- Oversee capital projects and improvements within designated scope
of responsibility
- Train and mentor crew in operations, safety and environmental
subjects
- Assist General and Aggregate Plant Manager with special projects
as needed
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Minimum 5 years reclamation management and/or supervision
experience
- Prefer engineering degree or the equivalent combination of
technical training and/or related earthmoving experience
- Knowledge of and experience managing local, state and federal
environmental policies and programs
- Operational experience with mass excavation equipment
- Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
essential
- Knowledge of typical business computer software programs
- Thorough knowledge of MSHA regulations preferred
- Previous experience managing a unionized workforce preferred
- GPS / surveying experience preferred
