Northrop Grummans Space Sector, Payload and Ground Systems Division in Azusa, CA, is seeking a qualified Manager 2 for the Pathways Engineering Department. The Pathways program is an early career rotational program where junior engineers will gain a variety of exposure, experiences, and education in breadth and depth through three one-year rotations across engineering disciplines. The position is a functional management position that reports directly to the Director of Engineering and Manufacturing.

The successful candidate will provide functional management for approximately four engineering homeroom manages of diverse disciplines and will oversee the budgeting, recruiting, and strategic development for approximately 80 junior engineers and 25 engineering interns each summer. The position requires engineering knowledge and leadership to help establish and execute effective technical program work and support junior engineers in rotations like data analysis, launch rehearsal, software development, TVAC testing, mechanical design, electrical design, manufacturing, cybersecurity, etc.

Management activities include supporting college hiring activities, interviewing and hiring staff, performance planning and appraisals, and professional development of staff. The candidate will also be required to integrate input from internal departments, program leadership, and other departments to develop rotational assignments and opportunities for the Pathways team members. Candidate must work effectively in a collaborative teaming environment, involving close coordination with program management, functional management, human resources, and various campus organizations. Candidate must also possess the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Furthermore, the candidate may be asked to perform key technical assignments on flagship space programs including: Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS), Defense Support Program (DSP), Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS), and others. Additional responsibilities may be assigned commensurate with performance or due to business needs.

**Basic Qualifications:**

+ Bachelors Degree within a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
+ 5 years of related technical experience
+ 3+ years of engineering functional management experience
+ Prior experience leading or collaborating with engineering & executive leadership to implement strategic initiatives
+ Experience with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
+ Ability to obtain & maintain a DoD Security Clearance (US citizenship required)
+ Excellent communication skills (oral and written) required and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success collaborating and leading technical teams.
+ Ability to provide career development guidance to new college graduates throughout the first 3 years of their career
+ Proven track record as a trusted advisor and partner with business leadership, along with demonstrated project management, analytical and process orientation skills

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ Masters degree within a STEM field
+ 7+ years of experience, and 5+ years of functional management experience
+ Active security Clearance
+ Experience managing an interdisciplinary engineering support staff
+ Experience with lean or agile principles and process optimization
+ Experience with technical development program design, development, or delivery
+ Prior experience leading early career and intern staff

Salary Range: $127,800.00 - $191,600.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
