Northrop Grumman SpaceSystems has an opening for a Principal--Radiation Effects Engineer (Level 3) / Sr Principal--Radiation Effects Engineer (Level 4) to join our team ofqualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Azusa, CA. Essential Functions: - Prepare radiationanalysis for satellite payload systems, including: Hostile Nuclear Weapon Threats , such as:

• Transient Radiation Effects in Electronics, comprising Total Dose, Displacement Damage and Prompt Dose Upset, Latchup, Burnout, and Transient effects from X-Ray, Gamma Ray, Neutron Environments
• EMP effects from environments such as High-Altitude EMP, Dispersed EMP, System-Generated EMP, Internal EMP, etc.
• Mechanical effects such as X-Ray Thermomechanical Shock, etc. Natural Space Environment Threats , such as:
  • Space Radiation Effects, including Single Event Effects (Upset, Latchup, Burnout, Transients, Functional Interrupts, etc.) from Heavy Ions, Protons, Galactic Cosmic Rays, Solar Flares, Electron/Protons Total Dose and Displacement Damage, etc.
  • Space Survivability Threats, Including Micrometeoroids, Orbital Debris, Atomic Oxygen, and UV degradation. - Prepare test plans, procedures and reports forradiation testing of electronics at component and box levels (e.g. total dose,prompt dose and single event upset/transient) - Use codes for environment & ratecalculations, natural & man-made radiation transport, as well as nuclearEMP and mechanical response - Circuit design/simulation, SPICE analyses,electronic component characterization & parameters. Demonstrated experiencewith simulation software packages (PSPICE, Microcap, MATLAB, ANSYS modelingsuites, or similar) - Prepare Statement of Works for radiation testlabs defining requirements for radiation testing of electronic components - Perform radiation predictions using NOVICE,Testable Hardware Tool Kit (THTK), SPENVIS, CR--ME96, MCNP and other radiationanalysis tools - Assess radiation effects on materialdegradation - Interface with multiple disciplines such asprogram management, electrical, mechanical, system engineering, procurement,subcontractors, manufacturing and test. - Present radiation requirements and complianceat PDRs, CDRs and other program reviews as required.-- Additionalresponsibilities that are commensurate with performance may be assigneddepending on business needs. Qualifications For Principal Radiation Effects Engineer-- Basic Qualifications:
    • Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and related STEM disciplines
    • Minimum of 5 years related experience and a Bachelor's degree OR a Master's Degree and 3 years related experience--
    • Knowledge of the physics associated with radiation effects in semiconductor devices
    • Experience performing radiation effects analysis, and testing, shielding analysis, and survivability analysis
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required Preferred Qualifications:
      • Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and related STEM disciplines
      • Experience with the following radiation tool: DEEP, NOVICE, AE9AP9, CremeMC, Testable Hardware Toolkit, etc.
      • Experience with other space environment prediction tools for micrometeoroids, orbital debris, and atomic oxygen
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Active Secret Clearance, ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance For Sr Principal Radiation Effects Engineer Basic Qualifications:
        • Degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and related STEM disciplines
        • Minimum of 9 years related experience and a Bachelor's degree OR a Master's Degree with 7 years related experience , OR a PhD & 4 years of related experience
        • Knowledge of the physics associated with radiation effects in semiconductor devices
        • Experience performing radiation effects analysis, and testing, shielding analysis, and survivability analysis
        • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required Preferred Qualifications:
          • Master's degree or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and related STEM disciplines
