Space Systems has an opening for a Principal Radiation Effects
Engineer (Level 3) / Sr Principal Radiation Effects Engineer (Level
4) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This
position will be located in Azusa, CA. Essential Functions:-
Prepare radiation analysis for satellite payload systems,
including:Hostile Nuclear Weapon Threats, such as:Transient
Radiation Effects in Electronics, comprising Total Dose,
Displacement Damage and Prompt Dose Upset, Latchup, Burnout, and
Transient effects from X-Ray, Gamma Ray, Neutron EnvironmentsEMP
effects from environments such as High-Altitude EMP, Dispersed EMP,
System-Generated EMP, Internal EMP, etc.Mechanical effects such as
X-Ray Thermomechanical Shock, etc. Natural Space Environment
Threats, such as:Space Radiation Effects, including Single Event
Effects (Upset, Latchup, Burnout, Transients, Functional
Interrupts, etc.) from Heavy Ions, Protons, Galactic Cosmic Rays,
Solar Flares, Electron/Protons Total Dose and Displacement Damage,
etc.Space Survivability Threats, Including Micrometeoroids, Orbital
Debris, Atomic Oxygen, and UV degradation.- Prepare test plans,
procedures and reports for radiation testing of electronics at
component and box levels (e.g. total dose, prompt dose and single
event upset/transient)- Use codes for environment & rate
calculations, natural & man-made radiation transport, as well as
nuclear EMP and mechanical response- Circuit design/simulation,
SPICE analyses, electronic component characterization & parameters.
Demonstrated experience with simulation software packages (PSPICE,
Microcap, MATLAB, ANSYS modeling suites, or similar)- Prepare
Statement of Works for radiation test labs defining requirements
for radiation testing of electronic components- Perform radiation
predictions using NOVICE, Testable Hardware Tool Kit (THTK),
SPENVIS, CR--ME96, MCNP and other radiation analysis tools- Assess
radiation effects on material degradation- Interface with multiple
disciplines such as program management, electrical, mechanical,
system engineering, procurement, subcontractors, manufacturing and
test.- Present radiation requirements and compliance at PDRs, CDRs
and other program reviews as required. Additional responsibilities
that are commensurate with performance may be assigned depending on

Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and related STEM
disciplinesMinimum of 5 years related experience and a Bachelor's
degree OR a Master's Degree and 3 years related experienceKnowledge
of the physics associated with radiation effects in semiconductor
devicesExperience performing radiation effects analysis, and
testing, shielding analysis, and survivability analysisAbility to
obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is
requiredPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in Physics,
Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, and related STEM
disciplinesExperience with the following radiation tool: DEEP,
NOVICE, AE9AP9, CremeMC, Testable Hardware Toolkit, etc.Experience
with other space environment prediction tools for micrometeoroids,
orbital debris, and atomic oxygenStrong written and verbal
communication skillsActive Secret Clearance, ability to obtain Top
Secret Clearance For Sr Principal Radiation Effects Engineer Basic

experience and a Bachelor's degree OR a Master's Degree with 7
years related experience , OR a PhD & 4 years of related

survivability analysisAbility to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret
Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is requiredPreferred
