Job Description:
Will support commercial, institutional, and residential energy
efficiency and green building programs in California. Projects will include
energy efficiency consulting, demand-side project management, Combined
Heat & Power, custom boiler and central utility plants, and district
heating and cooling. Will leverage knowledge of building systems, energy
efficiency, green building, and sustainability. Will conduct project
fieldwork, analysis, and report production using standard resources and
templates and custom tool development. Will perform energy engineering
studies, including energy audits, feasibility studies, and retro commissioning.
Will design electrical and control systems for distributed generation
projects, including solar photovoltaic, combined heat and power, energy
storage, and similar projects. Will perform and review facility audits and
feasibility studies and reports related to program implementation and
turnkey projects. Will review calculations and assumptions used to estimate or
measure savings due to energy efficiency and green building projects.
Will conduct site visits to verify installation and operation of baseline
and replacement energy using equipment. Will communicate with
contractors and program administrators regarding program requirements. Will use
energy modeling applications and other simulation techniques to predict
benefits from energy efficiency and green building projects. Education & Experience Requirements: Master's degree in
mechanical engineering, energy engineering or related field (willing to
accept foreign education equivalent) plus one years' experience developing and
reviewing mechanical and lighting audits or developing microgrid
feasibility studies and designing microgrid projects. Special Requirements: Must also possess the following skills: (1) Demonstrated
expertise (DE) performing technical reviews for energy efficiency projects,
energy auditing, and data measurements and verification plans based on
IPMVP protocol; (2) DE using CAD to design new layouts of electrical
design; (3) DE with energy modeling applications (eQuest, Trace, EnergyPro,
OpenStudio) and spreadsheet-based analysis techniques to perform energy
analysis; and, (4) DE with microgrid design softwares (HOMER, Matlab-Simulink)
and spreadsheet-based analysis techniques to perform microgrid
