The Azusa Pacific University Department of Communication Studies
invites applications for journalism and digital communication
faculty member who will teach courses in journalism, digital
communication, and related areas. The position may also be
considered for leadership of the B.A. in Journalism. - The
Department of Communication Studies is housed in the College of the
Arts and offers three undergraduate programs - Communication
Management, Public Relations, and Journalism - along with an MA in
Strategic Communication. It also offers a Digital Media and
Communication degree completion program at APU's Inland Empire or
Murrieta regional campuses. As part of the journalism program, the
department supports a student media program that includes an
on-campus magazine ( Collide ) and an online news site ( zunews.com
) where students create video packages, write news stories and
upload podcast episodes. The department also operates the
Convergent Media Center, a state-of-the-art multimedia room with
the latest video production, podcast, design, and publishing
technology, and a fully-equipped television studio. Specialization:
Journalism, digital communication, and social media. -
Responsibilities: This full-time faculty member will teach a mix of
courses in the department, with a particular emphasis on
journalism, social media, and digital communication. The candidate
will anchor the development of students' digital and print media
abilities, as well as their understanding of the nature and process
of journalism. - The position may also include leadership for the
Journalism program, advising students, working closely with the
department chairs and the Dean's office to grow the program,
innovatively engaging the modern convergent media environment, and
mentoring adjunct faculty. Depending on experience and expertise,
s/he may also assist in advising the department's student media.
Other duties include participating in committee assignments at the
department, college, and university levels and participating in all
faculty meetings. Level: Assistant/Associate (depending on
qualifications) Qualifications: Ph.D. preferred. Master's Degree in
a Journalism or Communication Studies related field required.
Candidates must also adhere to Azusa Pacific University's
Evangelical Christian tradition. Faculty members must sign a

) and adhere to the policies outlined in the Faculty Handbook .
Experience: Professional experience in Media and Journalism is
strongly preferred. Workload: Full-time Hire Date: Open until
